Course Information:Stress in the Funeral Home Environment The “key” to dealing with stress is control. The funeral home tries to offer a tranquil setting to reduce the anxiety levels of client families. The funeral director needs to offer a soothing comforting word for client families and yet inwardly s/he may be bursting with emotional tension. All of which may have been caused by situations beyond his/her control. Most often stress in the funeral home is caused by constantly striving for perfectionism; this does not have to be the case. Perfectionism can be achieved simply by learning to adapt to the varied situations they exist in the funeral home. The course can be a guide to understand and controlling stress in the funeral home environment. The Author Jerry Keller graduated from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in 1964 and has been involved both directly and indirectly with the Funeral Profession since that time and has been a Certified Bereavement Facilitator since 1997. |
